St. Vincent's Birmingham is an acute care hospital serving Birmingham and the surrounding communities. St. Vincent’s Birmingham was founded in 1898 by the Daughters of Charity as a ministry dedicated to spiritually centered, holistic care designed to sustain and improve the health of the community as well as its citizens. As a faith-based, Catholic health ministry, it serves the greater Birmingham area with a focus on compassion, particularly for the poor and vulnerable. The Women & Children's Center features a 24/7 obstetric ER, private labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum (LDRP) suites, a Level III NICU, and lactation support.
