Haven was organized in 1887 in a frame house on 16th Street between Dooley and Cobb Avenues in Anniston, Alabama.
Haven Chapel grew in spirit and in numbers and with that growth there arose the necessity for a new location and edifice. On April 18, 1912, their dream was realized. The present site was purchased from the Presbyterian Church by what was known then as the Methodist Episcopal Church, under the competent leadership of the Reverend J.A.W. Usher and loyal trustees. The church's name was changed from "Haven Chapel" to Haven Methodist Church.
